    28 November 2018

The Malawi Roads Authority intends to rehabilitate/reconstruct and widen the Kaphatenga – Dwangwa Road in Nkhotakota District in the central Region of Malawi. The work will also involve replacing single lane and temporary bridges with permanent two lane bridges for the  section covering spanning from Nkhotakota – Bua Bridge.

The road will be widened to a new cross-section with overall width of 11.0m comprising 7.0m carriageway and 2.0 wide shoulders on each side. The works shall therefore involve partial reconstruction of the existing pavement and construction of earthworks and new pavement on widened sections. Partial reconstruction of the existing pavement shall involve scarifying and stockpiling on site crushed stone base materials; replacing the existing subbase materials with imported good quality materials and constructing to form the subbase layer;  and relaying the scarified crushed stone materials to form new base course.

This road is quite important. It facilitates movement of people, goods and services which are critical for economic development of the area and the country.
